View Full Version : Swallowing thin liquids

I read that some people with MS have difficulties swallowing thin liquids.

I thought this problem was caused by getting dentures, thats when it started last year.

My liquids have to be very hot or very cold if they are THIN. If not they get caught in my throat.

Other than that I have no problem with any solids or milkshakes. So this hasn't impaired me at all. I just know when my hot tea cools down, just dump it.

Anyone else have this problem?

Hope

Hi, I too have trouble with swallowing at times but not with liquids but with foods. I have to chop up like for a child. When I drink liquids, I find using a straw easier as well. Take Care

I've noticed that too. I tend to choke fairly often when I'm drinking something, but very often whenever I'm drinking my morning tea after it's cooled down. I didn't know it was a "thing".

I haven't been diagnosed with MS as of now, it's just something my neuro's keeping an eye on.
