I would like to hear from anyone who's had Lasik done. I have read a lot of research on this procedure and would like some feedback from people who have had this done. All feedback good and bad welcomed.

Thank you

I had lasik done 3.5 years ago. best thing i ever did for myself! Am very nearsighted and have worn glasses since 3rd grade and contacts since I was 16 (now 45). My best advice to you is to thoroughly research the surgeon who will do the surgery. there is a learning curve involved here. Make sure he/she has done an EXTENSIVE number of procedures. my doc was the best in the area and i still had some relatively minor complications. just stuff that can happen, nothing that would deter me from doing it again. blurry vision, fluctuating vision, "vaseline" vision for a few months following the surgery. I could see perfectly fine though, these things were just annoying. Vision is best outside in brigt sunlight. places w/ low lighting make it somewhat harder to see. the best thing for me was to be able to see 24/7 far and near w/o needing my contacts or glasses. worth its weight in gold if you ask me. do careful research on the surgeon, keep an open mind and dont sweat the fluctuating vision for several months post op ( you will be able to function, read, drive, etc, just fine) that may happen. You also may be one of the lucky few that doenst have that! Go for it, and good luck!

Check my answer to OkieGal on her post "Qualifying for Lasik"

Just do it, but after consulting an experienced doctor.

Wish you all the best!

I am considering lasik, would like to know if clarity is a big problem after the surgery? I have good clarity with my glasses, not so good with contacts. Does the lasik cause you to have less clarity? I would like to have the same that I have now with my glasses, but without having to wear them.
Thanks!

This isn't really an opinion just a story that my eye dr. shared with me when I talk to him about the surgery. (We discuss it every years I go see him - he doesn't push I always ask about what he thinks and what the advances are from the previous year)

Anyways, he told me about this lady who had it done and they did the eye exam and she had 20/20 vision with both eyes but with her right eye alone she was off just a little bit. Now, my eye dr. knows this woman, though he doesn't perform the LASIK himself. So, knowing that she's a perfectionist she insists on going back to have the right eye redone or whatever they do, the dr. told her there was no reason for redoing the eye as it was 20/20 with both eyes . She insisted and persisted. After about 3 or 4 or more I'm not positive - she is now back to wearing glasses for her right eye b/c apparently redoing it as many times as she did it made it worse.

Just a thought for what it's worth.

I had Lasik done 3 weeks ago. It is WONDERFUL. The actaul procedure took 9 minutes and absolutely NO pain. For 2 hours afterwards yours eyes kinda burn and are uncomfortable then great. I see almost perfectly and would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone. My eyes are a little dry right now but that has gotten much better and continues to get better.
