Hi , I think i'm in the process (a very painfull one at that ) of passing a small (i hope ) kidney stone . My urine has been like acid for 6 weeks now and I've had mild pain on my side above my hip but below the ribs in the kidney area..now today I had really nasty diarreah and horrible pains in the front stomach area...maybe off to the one side more than the other a little , the pain is doubling me over and making me cry...IS this the stones passing ?? the pain is worst than when my appendix exploded in December:( ..should I go get something from the walkin clinic for it ? Sorry if I'm not making a whole lot of sense but the apin is terrible ..so ???

Thanks Allie for responding -I've had blood in my urine for over 6 weeks ..less now than a few weeks ago though , it's not visible to the naked eye anymore but they keep testing it and it is still there. They did an ultra scan and told me that my spleen is enlarged but my kidneys lloed fien , but the dr did say there may be small stones that are hard to see on the u/s. My mother had Kidney stones ..large and small and she started at my age getting them. I'm feeling better tonight but I'm about to leave for vacation (in 5 days ) and I'm worried that the pain is going to come back , right now I'm just feeling kind of uncomfortably full around my bladder/ kidney area. My husband says if the pain comes back he's taking me to emergency right away ..i was at a coffee shopp with afriend when it came onearlier. And is diearreha a symptom of it? I 'm honestly scared the pain is going to come back soon ..does the pain I described sound normal for Kidney stones?

Diarrehea is not normal but not unheard of either. You may be dehydrated. I have been none to have really bad diarrehea right after passing a stone and sometimes get contispated right before (sorry TMI). This has actually been a problem with me because I have been known to black out from the diarrehea. It also can be a sign of infection so do not be quick to dismiss it.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Is it normal for the pain to be in the front stomach area (somewhat off the the right hand side ) when your passing the stones? For a month and a half now the pain was mild and it was in the kidney area then yesterday it went to the front area of my stomach/ groin area and the pain just went into over drive.........

Yes the pain can be there as the stone moves through the anatomy the location of the pain will change. If you feel a weird sensation in your groin then get ready...
You should be straining your urine to see if you can catch the little bugger. You can use a paint strainer, hand held colander basket sifter thingy, or a metal coffee filter to catch it in. If you have any local mom and pop drug stores or surgical supply stores they may also carry it.
I am always fond of the idea of going to your local hardware store and making the biggest guy there quiver as you explain the pain of kidney stones and tell him you need a paint strainer to catch things in, but hurry, I feel like I may explode............
