I wear flip flops alot as well as walk around in my bare feet some. Ladies I need some ideas. My feet are dry and rough and sometimes crack around the heels. I use lotion and sometimes wear socks to bed, etc. I even used kersal to help soften the feet and I have used a foot file. Should I use one of those callous remover things because the pumice stone and foot file do not help much!! My feet become so rough I do not want my husband to touch them. Any ideas?

I find in the summer time my feet tend to crack and become more dry. I have also tried pumice stones and foot files. I actually found a great foot file at a hair salon made by Dannyco. One side is rough you scrub your feet when they are dry. It really removes the dry skin. The other side you wet and it smooths the skin after scrubbing with the dry side. Also applying vaseline (jelly, not the lotion) to your feet at night and covering your feet with cotton socks soaks in the moisture. I hope this helps! :)

Definitely go to a nail salon and get a good pedicure at first! I find that the products you use at home to remove dead skin usually are not as strong as the ones they use in the salon. They actually used some kind of razor to shave off dead skin that the pumice stones/foot files just weren't getting rid of at home. Not every salon does a great job, so ask around for some good places for a good price. I got one for $20 that was excellent and paid more for one that wasn't so good once.
I really recommend Burts Bees coconut foot creme. It's VERY moisturizing and thick. I used to put Vaseline on my feet but this is even more moisturizing and smells good. You might not want to wear it ALL the time though b/c it kind of makes your feet shiny... best for putting socks over it!
After getting a good pedicure it's easier to maintain on your own and you can go get it done at the salon every now and then. At home I will fill up my sink with hot water and body wash and I let my feet soak in there for a while before I scrub them with a pumice stone. The stone actually works better than my foot file and callous shaver and it was only a dollar or two. Just be sure to soak your feet in a warm temperature since it will soften up the dead skin to be scrubbed.
You might want to buy some nail/cuticle oil if you have dry cuticles like I do! I have one that is built into a little pink pen by Sally Hansen.
I have been using one of those callous remover things that has a blade for about 10 years. You have to be VERY VERY careful with it and I only use it when my feet are moist from taking a shower, never dry. I swear by it, but I have had to learn the hard way and have cut myself in the beginning. I only do a little at a time, also. YOu know what also works great? 100% Pure Shea Butter. After I use the callous remover, I put that on pretty thick. I got it at a store in the mall that sells all that fruity lotion stuff (and I cannot remember the name, for the life of me.)

I know this may sound weide - but I use sandpaper, it works much better than any file or pumice stone:)

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I plan on trying some of them, even the sandpaper since my husband usually has that in his workshop. Thanks again.
