I've been taking Adderall xr, 20 mgs for about 2 or 3 years now. Before Christmas, I noticed I was having a difficult time finishing what I started; energy; prioritizing (sp?); feeling listless; feeling sad... Just as I did prior to being diagnosed w/ ADD back around 1998. I mentioned to my husband, who's a pharmacist, that perhaps I've gotten used to this dosage, maybe I should have it increased... He said, "No- this works as a stimulant, you're not young anymore and you could end up with a heart attack..."
I'm 48 yrs old, he's probably right... or is he?
I know it's not menopause (I had complete hysterectomy in '95 & my estrogen levels are fine)...
Should I go up to 30 mgs or is there something else I could try?
Anti-dressants are out of the question- I took various ones over a 5 year period for depression prior to being diagnosed w/ ADD- they didn't work.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Dulcinea,

You could try not taking the Adderall for a week or two and then resuming.

Our bodies tend to reset pretty quickly to stimulant tolerance.

Another thing that might happen is you might become aware of how well current dose of Adderall is working. We can get use to its efficacy too.

Bob
