View Full Version : Lowering Pressure in Eyes-Naturally

Hi, I would like to lower the pressure in my eyes using a natural alternative to the usually prescribed eye drops like azopt and xalatan. I have had bad reactions to these and others usually prescribed. Pressure is up to 27 right and 28 left eye. Pressures had been running about 24 right and 25 left. Visual field tests for the past two years were very good. Photos of the optic nerves show no signs of damage, thus far. There is a family history of glaucoma. Cornea thickness tests show that both corneas are thin. New studies indicate that this is another risk factor in glaucoma. Does anyone know of any natural alternative to the eye drops? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, Rebeckah

I have glacouma also but use the drops, like you
I have searched for natural means and I'm surprised
no one has replied, I just got here.

Here are some natural ways that could lower your pressure:

Vitamin C
ginkgo biloba
Supplementing with 0.5 mg of melatonin lowered intraocular pressure of healthy people,6 but there have been no studies on the effects of melatonin in people with glaucoma.

Surveys have shown that Inuit people, who consume large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, have a much lower incidence of some types of glaucoma than do Caucasians. Although there have been no studies on the use of omega-3 fatty acids to treat glaucoma, one study found that cod liver oil (a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids) reduced intraocular pressure in animals.

omega three fatty acids

magnesium

smoking increases your pressure about 16% with each cigarette, don't know whether you smoke or not.
