New to this board! Sorry a little long! I've been under the care of my opthamalogous for about 4 yrs. I have optic nerve atrophy he believes from my pernicious anemia and he has been watching it closely. Anyway I had the Tomography done last month which showed the retinal nerve fiber abnormally thin in the inferior and nasal quadrants. I am a good canidate for glaucoma as it runs rabidly on my mothers side. My eye pressure runs about 20 in each eye. did my visual field today and I always feel I've got good perepheral visison as I pass it each time, don't know about todays yet. My question is as he thinks I have early stage glaucoma, how do I prevent this from progressing without all the eye drops I know I'll be on eventually?? I also have dry eye syndrom. Is there a special diet I can follow closely to benefit my eyes so more damage isn't done? Eye Disease really scares me as I enjoy my sight more than sound if you know what I mean!

Don't risk losing your vision by trying to lower your eye pressure with dietary changes or nutritional supplements. It simply will not work.

The only way to effectively lower your eye pressure, and ultimately prevent any permanent vision loss, is to follow your eye doctor's medical regimine exactly and maintain your scheduled appointments for examination.

Again, I can't stress this enough: Don't waste your time and money, (and possibly lose some of your vision), messing around with dietary changes to lower your eye pressure.

You're right I shouldn't be messing around trying to do it myself.
