Hi all.....

I am looking for info from someone who has had the gummy bear implants done. I am trying to make a final decision as to what I want when I have my next mastectomy. I had a left mastectomy 7/13/06 and will be having the right removed prophylactically this summer because of my family history. I think I would like to try and gummy bears but would like to talk to someone who has had the procedure done.

Have not heard of those, what are they???? I will be going in for reconstruction in September. Curious about that.

Hope you had a good weekend :) Ours was okay, tried from vacation and the heat here.

What are your plans right now for reconstruction? Are you having bilateral done? They are implants filled with high strength cohesive silicone gel. they have been testing them in europe and canada now for 10 years I guess and have had good success with them. They say you can cut the implant like a gummy bear and they don't leak or rupture. They keep their shape. The part I really like is I don't think they use expanders but not 100% sure now been reading so much. The other point is that they say soft after they are put in. I'm going to email the plastic surgeon I visited to see if he does the gummy bears then if he does I could have it done at the same time of my right mastectomy. Will let you know what else I find. Let me know what you find out :)
