Ok, I just wrote a few days ago about my concerns with my (almost) 6 month old crawling with a dog in the house. However, he has absolutely no interest in crawling. I don't know what to do. He HATES tummy time, always has. Anytime we put him on his tummy to play he just rolls over. He will get up on his hands but refuses to get on his knees. Hubby and I try to put him in the crawling postion but he just laughs and as soon as we let go he straightens his legs. Is there anything I can do or am doing wrong?

He'll crawl when he gets good and ready! Quit worrying about it. The average age for crawling is about 8 months so he's no where near being beyond the average age. He may decide to never crawl...I didn't...just started walking at 8-1/2 months. My sister crawled but didn't walk till about 13-14 months. WE're all different. Don't force him.

Thanks! I was under the impression that he should be atleast trying. I'll stop stressing. :)

My first daughter crawled at 7 months, walked at 11. Second one only started to crawl at 9.5 months and walked at 13.5. My son crawled at 8 months and just now started walking at 14 months! Obviously they are all different. Six months is early to crawl....definitely don't be worrying about it yet.

Besides, when he crawls, he's into everything and then you really have to watch him. I liked when I could put mine on the blanket on the floor and go use the bathroom and they would be there when I got back. Now I have an audience EVERYWHERE I go.

Honestly, don't rush it. He'll do it when he's ready. And by the way, there are many forms of crawling. Hands and knees isn't the only way. Some army crawl, scoot on their bottoms, one knee up, etc. As long as they are making effort to be mobile and are using both sides, they're fine.

I agree, he just isn't ready. Pretty soon he will figure it out.

YEp dont worry about it. AND DONT listen to your friends at all about it. Never compare any kids not even your own.

I hvae 4 and my 1st one didnt crawl at all. He stood up at like 8months and was running by 10. My 2nd and 3rd didnt crawl much because i didnt let them on the floor to often, they walked at 12 months then didnt really get out and about till they were like 15months

Mylast one is going to be a year next week and she crawled at 10months. Backwards! Then she stood up and sat up all in the same time frame and everyone siad oh no she must be so slow. LOL yeah NOT! She says ma, ya(for yes cuz that is how we say it), papa,da,no,door, how you(we say how are you to her every morning but she cant say are)...so i think she is doing fine. My 1st talked at 7months then stopped till he was like 3 years old.

They are all differnt. relax and enjoy your baby dear!

My daughter scoots, dragging one leg behind her, but is very good at it... sometimes she covers over 100 feet in a day! She gets up on a four and rocks, but no crawling. However, she DOES pull herself up on the couch and cruises along it's edge... and even let go today and stood by herself (for a single second, but it's a start!!). Oh, and she's not quite 8 months old yet. I think she's going to skip crawling altogether and will be walking in a month.

And remember, there are no kids in high school that are still saying mamamama or gagaga and none that are lying around not walking upright. :)
