yesterday i was walking in my house barfoot, and stepped right on a dirty metal, staple-like object. i have no idea what it was doing there, but i had to pull it out and it got in my foot fairly deep. i immidiately cleaned it, and it didnt bleed very much after. i had a doctor's appointment scheduled for today anyway, so i thought i'd say something about it. it turns out my last tetanus shot was 11 years ago. i got the booster done today, but i still have questions.
does the amount of time i wait after a puncture before getting the booster effect how well it will prevent tetanus?
paranoind me has been reading about it a lot sinse then, and im not even sure if the booster even helps anything. am i wrong?
and my mother and doctor say its fine as long as its not infected, but does that even matter?
i appreciate any help or knowlege. im probably just being overdramatic about it, but tetanus scares the daylights out of me. :(
