Just wanted to pop back on the boards and share that I just had my fourth normal pap after a history of Ascus and Cin I. I just want to share this protocol with anyone who might want to give it a try. I realize that HPV can rear it's ugly head again in the future but at least I know now what I'll try first! I had several abnormal paps and two coloposcopies before finding my current doctor. In March 05 we did the following 3 month protocol with vitamins and minerals. I had a normal pap in June of 05. September it was ASCUS again so we did another 90 days of the protocol. In Jan 06 I was normal, March 06 Normal, July 06 Normal (as you can see she kept a close eye on me!) I was cleared to wait a year and I just got my results from July 07 - Normal!! She had the exact same results with a patient who had CIN III as well! I'll paste in what we did from my original post back in March 2005 in the hopes this will help someone else avoid having to do invasive treatment! Good luck to all of you!

I've had a history of paps showing Ascus and biopsies showing mild dysplasia. I have also been diagnosed with one of the high risk strains of HPV. I finally found a doctor who wanted me to actually try something instead of just the horrible "wait and see" when we do a follow up pap. She put me on a protocol of 25,000 i.u. Vitamin A and Cerviplex (which is 400 mg. Indole-3-Carbinol) once a day. I was also on 5 mg of Folic Acid two times a day (for a total of 10 mgs a day - need a prescription for this!) and 500 mg. Vitamin C two times a day (for a total of 1000 mg). She also had me switch to natural cotton tampons and for seven days while not on my period, I put the liquid from a Vit. A capsule on the end of the tampon and stuck it up next to my cervix. This protocol is for 90 days.

Hi shadow!

Thanks for the encouraging words! A couple of the girls on this board and I are adopting a health regimen to treat our CIN I/II. I'm working with a naturopathic doctor here in CA and she has me on a pretty intense vitamin regimen and daily suppositories. Did you not use the Vag Depletion packs as well as the vitamin A?

I agree that in the "wait and watch" period, we can be proactive about our health! Also, some docs wanted to jump into a LEEP and I told them hell no (hahah well not those words exactly, but that's what i was thinking!), not until I try this regimen first. One doc told me she had a new patient who was given a LEEP for her CIN I!!! Talk about over-treatment!

Your story gives us hope! Also, have you read Dr. Tori Hudson's article on treating dysplasia naturopathically? It's very encouraging as well! Thanks again for the suggestions Shadow and congrats on your normal paps! Hopefully in a few months we'll be able to report back here with even more normal results. :) Take care!

Wow,

This is really great information-thanks so much - it sure gives me some hope on things I can do in addition to always having my check ups.

Shadow, It's great to have you back.

I was wondering what happened to you and if you ever would write again. I also wanted to ask you if the abnormalities ever came back, (because of stress or so) but it is really good to hear that you're doing fine. It's a great relief to hear that there is hope.

After my three months of simliar regimen my Pap came back Ascus (compared to Lsgil and CIn1/II confiremd form the doc), I am waiting to finish the second three months and in August will have another PAP/colpo (most likely) too see if it works.

Anyway, take care and thank you for sharing. Great insipration,

I'm so glad you guys are giving this a try. I promised my doc I'd share it with others if it worked. And I've been under a TREMENDOUS amount of stress both financially and with two deaths in my family. I was actually amazed it was normal this time. And no, I didn't use anything but what I posted. That is the exact regimen and you DO need to be under a doctors supervision for this as the folic acid is a super high dose.

I wanted to add I probably shouldn't have used the word "cure" in the thread title. I know there's no "cure" for HPV at this point. I wasn't screened for HPV on this last pap but last July, my doctor did request the screening and it came back negative. As an earlier HPV test showed I was positive for high risk, I guess my immune system (and I believe it was in part due to this vitamin/mineral protocol) was able to clear the HPV - for now. I know that yearly exams are a must for me in case it resurfaces. I did also want to mention that they ARE working on a cure for this stupid virus. If you do a search for a study called Indigo, you'll see there is some work being done for those of us born too late for Gardisil. And please - if you have a daughter, get her that series of three Gardisil shots! My 18 year old is getting her third this week. Even if it proves to be not a hundred percent effective, it's better than nothing!

Shadow sorry to hear about the deaths in your family. It definitely adds up to the stress level when you least need it...not that these things can be ever easy to deal with.

On the other hand, I am happy to hear that your body was able to overcome that level of stress. I worry that everything that stresses me it's going to trigger some bad reaction and stop the processs of healing. My ordeal started because I was under a lot of stress...and worrying that you are stressed definitely doesn't help.

great to hear from you again.
