I was just seen by my Dr yesterday. I have been experience bouts of a rapid/fluttering heart while doing absolutely nothing for the last 8 months or so. I'd be sitting, watching tv, just wake up from sleeping, etc. It got so bad 2 days ago that I just had to see a Dr. My heart fluttered about 4x in a row while I was just watching tv. I grabbed my chest, trying to catch my breath. Sometimes I would get a little lightheaded and short of breath. And as soon as it happens, it's over. I had my sister, who is an EMT, check my pulse and it was 100 at the time. I was crying because it scared me so bad.

I had an EKG done yesterday which came back pretty normal. There was a questionable beat on it that might've been early, but he couldn't tell. A nurse checked my pulse at the time and it was near 100 as well and asked if I was nervous because that seemed high to her. And I wasn't. The Dr also listened to my heart and thinks he hears a slight click or a murmur so I'm getting my labs done and being put on a Holter Monitor Monday to record my heart beat. I am also getting an echocardiogram done that following Thursday as well. Mind you, I have no insurance. This is all to rule out MVP. I'm only 23 years old. Why all of sudden would all these symptoms start happening to me now? I am also getting extremely short of breath doing routine, daily things. Climbing up the stairs to my bedroom gets me short of breath now. Is this all symptomatic of MVP? So confused. Can't wait to get this figured out.

Was dx with MVP many years ago....have all your symptoms.....sudden fast heart rate....extra beats.....I have also had chest pains esp if I am sick. Upper back pain, but only on a minor level. LOTS of PVCS. Your upcoming echo will give you all the answers you need. Good Luck. Normally, it is just something you will learn to live with...dont stress......in my experience MVP is nothing to worry about.

Thanks for letting me know :) One other quick question, do you have to take your shirt off while you get an echocardiogram?

Hi!
I just had the same experience as what divations has said..
Most of the time I feel exhausted and lump in my throat.
By the way I was diagnosed with MVP last 2 years ago and I think these is the reason why I'm experiencing these symptoms..
