Hello Everyone,
I posted a little while ago with concern about my daughter with her eye going in. Well I took her to the specialest and They found that she might have Glaucoma. He said that her optic nerve and something else was not right. I am sooo upset. He said that just by looking at the eyes (both) have it. But he wants to put her to sleep and check the pressure and check her eyes real good. So I am waiting for the doctor to call and let us know when we go for that.

He looked in my husbands eyes and he has the same thing but my daughters is worse then his. And he does not have Glaucoma. It is something else, but does not know the name of it. My husband also is color blind. He had 20/20 till he turned 43. My daughter is to young to tell us what she sees and all that so we have to wait till she is older to find that out I guess.

Does anyone know of any conditions that look like Glaucoma but are not, and run in families.

Thanks for reading.
bye Chele'

Chele:

This condition doesn't mimic glaucoma, but if your husband is colourblind, it's possible the hereditary condition is ocular albinism. I'm no doc, so it's just a guess.
Good luck.

Your daughter may have large physiologic cupping of the optic nerve. This can run in families. The doctor needs to perform all the necessary tests on your daugter's eyes under anesthesia since it is quite diffictult to get acurate results on 1.5 year old who is awake.

What were your daughter's eye pressures?

Hello,

She has not had her eye pressure done yet, that is one of the test they will do while she is out. My husband tells me not to worry, seeing he has had this prob his whole life and no one said anything till a year ago.
But this is my baby and I do worry,

Thanks to all who responed to my post.

"large physiologic cupping of the optic nerve" if this is what it is, does this cause any problems later?

Thanks again.
Chele
