almost cried today,
knowing that im the one always worrying about cancer,
and now she got it back.
:[

She is 39 years old and relatively in good shape and health.
she was diagonosed with stage 1A cervical in 2005

she had laproscopic surgery and got it all removed.

and she went to the doctor yesterday and her pap smear came back positive.

now heres my concern...

she gets a pap smear every three months,
her last one in the end of february was complely perfect.

how far could cervical cancer grow in about 3 and a half months?

she is the owner of the hair salon our whole family goes to,
she is such a good woman, today when i was there and we were closing the shop.
she started crying and said, allen i want to see my kids grow up and get married im just so scared.

she has a two year old beautiful daughter and a ten year old son.

shes going to have a historectomy and laproscopic surgery.
& after that they may have to do chemo.
the lab results about what stage she has comes back tomorrow.

since im a boy, i have no clue about this cancer.
can somebody that knows alot about it quote me in about it,
so i can give her some feedback and let her relax a little?

she is such a great woman its horrible that its back now.

help please.

Hi Allen,
I noticed you had not gotten any replies to your post, and its likely because majority of us women posting here regularly are dealing with cervical dysplasia, a precancerous condition. You said your concern was her last pap three months ago was "completely perfect", and was wondering how far cervical cancer can grow in three and a half months. The thing is, everyone & situation is different, so what the doctors tell her at this point is going to be what matters most. Sadly, pap smears are not 100 percent accurate & have a relatively high false negative rate. Meaning, it is very possible & very likely that her paps were resulting in false negatives in oppose to rapid progression. However, that can not be assumed as fact. There is a new liquid based pap which has a lower false negative rate, but also not 100 percent. This is why women are encouraged to go on a regular basis for their exams in hopes that what may have been missed on the last will be caught on the next.

Just remember to remind her she still needs to get pap smears regularly even after a hysterectomy to ensure no abnormal cell changes are occuring in the vaginal area.

You are a wonderful friend, and I hope she gets some answers really soon from her doctor.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
