View Full Version : Pain in Stomach

For the past two days I have had pain in my stomach . . . just under the ribcage and above the belly button. It's not so bad that I feel I need to go to the er - it's not stabbing or sharp. Just dull, achy pain that now and then is worse than other times. I felt nauseous yesterday and I feel like I may have a little heart burn and gas. What can cause this?

My son had acute pancreatitis earlier in the year - but it seemed when he had that - he was in much worse pain - he could barely move.

I'm a mom of three and it's got me pretty worried. Any help will be an ease to my mind. Thanks!

Hi,

Could be a lot of things but it would sound to me like heartburn or GERD. Has this happened before and do you see a correlation with anything specifically that you've been eating? You may just be able to tweak your diet (avoid fatty, spicy and acidic) and see if that helps.

You are correct that a pancreatitis attack would be highly painful. My experience was the same with a gallbladder attack so I would take a look at diet first and if your symptoms worsen or increase, definitely see a doc. The gallbladder is most commonly associated with right upper quadrant pain that radiates to the shoulder or back but it can also be midline.

Just my thoughts. Wish you the best.

Thanks so much! This really made me feel better. I'll have that checked out. Thanks again!
