View Full Version : probably not a stroke

Hi, I previously posted querying a possible stroke (June time), I am just giving you an update:
went back to the Drs, his initial response was none of my symptoms were related, the physio was talking nonsense (he referred me to him!). Silence ensued between us so I said what do I do now, you referred me to physio, he says he cant help go back to the drs, so here i am ;) i also complained about my throat as I had not previously told him about that.

After a few seconds the dr reluctantly said ok lets have a look at you, he proceeded to do some manual tests (i now know they were clincial neurological tests), he did a blood pressure test also which he said was fine. I asked him to look at my throat again (i had convinced myself i must have throat cancer), this he did, he told me to say arrrhh, went "oh" turned to his computer and said, something is obviously going on, im totally baffled and I will refer you to a Neurologist, he mentioned i have reduced reflexes on my right side even though the nerve problem and weakness is on the left side, this he said he found confusing. I also couldnt perform nose to finger test, (he said I was worse with my right hand, I also couldnt do rapid movement procedures) I was amazed he didnt shine a torch down my throat or feel my glands. However, through my own research I know i have a deviated uvula (points to the right), maybe that is what caused him to say "oh", i really have no idea why he didnt closely examine my throat or even ask for blood tests before a referral. I did ask him does he think i have had a stroke and his reply was no, it was highly unlikely.

Luckily all my symptoms i have had over the last few months seem to have gone away apart from left arm and leg aching, dont even feel like falling over, so the balance issue has gone quiet again. The throat is also fine so im sure it isnt cancer (being a hypochondriac now). Sometimes I wonder if it is worth seeing a Neuro, im ok at the moment, my Dr annoys me with his attitude and I dont really want to see him even when I have other frightening things happen now and again namely:
recently heart going absolutely wild and something in my heart/rib area pulsating so strongly that when I put my right hand over it to hold it cos it was hurting the hand couldnt stay on the area, whatever was jumping in that area pushed my hand off - scared the life out of me, no heart attack ensued and it stopped within maybe a minute - i was lying in bed when it happened - so i put it down to another unexplainable thing, if I tell my dr he will just think im crazy im sure, i have also had a couple of episodes lasting again maybe only a minute when it feels like my entire rib/chest area is being crushed tight to the point i feel like i cant breathe, its extremely painful and panic sets in again cos i think im having a heart attack - i didnt. Maybe all my problems are from my heart and not the brain.
Fed up and scared with it all going on but it has gone away so maybe it is an end to it. As a matter of interest has anyone else had these odd chest/heart symptoms.
Thanks for listening.
