Back in March I had my first Leep done for carcinoma in situ... it was painful, had horrible cramping and bleeding/discharge for about a month. I went back for my 3 month follow up pap and it came back abnormal again. I had the colposcopy which suggested i needed to have another leep done. Which i just had on friday July 20th. I had just gotten my period that morning (about 4 hours before my appointment)....but she wanted it to be done anyway. Well, i had really bad pain with this one, worse than the first. (but i also have adenomyosis *anyone else have this?*) ....so that may be contributing to all the pain? anyway... i'm scared because I have been passing large blood clots and what appears to be large pieces of tissue? Has anyone had this or heard of this, can it be normal? of course it is sunday so the dr isn't in to call.. I am still having really bad cramping too... the problem is i don't know if it's from the leep, the period, or adenomyosis!!! (probably a combination of all!!!) i'm just scared because i didn't have the blood clots and tissue whatever it is with the first leep.
thanks for letting me vent...any help would be great!!

Hello ShiningStar:
I had a LEEP in January. My period started just a few hours before the procedure. My doctor went ahead and performed the LEEP. About 12 hours after the LEEP I started bleeding and by the next day I was passing large clots and tissue. 36 hours from the LEEP I hemorrhaged. I was able to get to my doctor's office. She looked at my cervix and all the cauterization was gone. Within an hour I was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery to repair. My doctor had to recauterize and suture my cervix. I do not want to scare you, but you need to get in touch with your doctor. This deserves attention.
Please post and let the women here know how things worked out for you.
Take Care,
msremi

You should phone your drs first thing this morning. I got my period two days before my cone biopsy and it actually stopped my period for a day or so. I phoned my dr concerned b/c I normally have a heavy period and she said no worry it will probably come back with the common discharge/bleeding that comes following these procedures. She said I should only be worried if it is excessive bleeding.

Your doctor should be able to be paged by an answering service. I would try and get in contact with him/her. I had that tissue coming out as well, and the doc. said it was normal. I am not sure about the clots, but since you are on your period it is probably normal, but I would still contact the doc.
Like msremi said, post and update everyone! We are all in this together.

Thanks everyone for your messages. This message board has been so helpful and you all are so caring :) I was afraid to call my doc. The nurses have made me so mad other times when I have called that I ended up crying... I thought I would stick it out another day and see what happens since the bleeding eased up. I called and once again the nurses tell me to take my pain med. and lay down ~ I should be feeling better soon. arg. Im still hurting and passed more yesterday but so far so good today. I just don't understand where all of the tissue is coming from! I've had continuous bacterial infections since my last leep, and that's what this feels a lot like. I go back to work tomorrow and if I can't handle the pain I'll be driving TO the dr.'s office instead of calling and getting a lame answer from them! Has anyone else had complications, or numerous Leeps? Or am i one of the lucky ones..hah. Thanks for listening guys, and thanks so much for the messages. :) I'm going to "go lay down" now.
