Hello,

My son who is 12 came home from soccer complaining about a throbbing pain in his testicles. He said someone had kicked him but that it had happened several weeks ago, and the pain had just started that day during practice. My neighbor who is a pediatrician did a quick exam, and she thought it might be something called 'hydrocele' and it would go away on its own. Is anyone familiar with this condition?

Thanks, A.

I'd take him to his own pediatrician tomorrow morning. A hydroceles is an accumulation of fluid that may have to be removed surgically. That's just a thumbnail diagnosis using ****pedia. Don't mess around with the testes at the beginning of puberty. Was he waring a cup? Formal league sports should require them - just playing with his pals though, it's unlikely

Wow, that sounds serious. I'll make an appointment first thing tomorrow. No he wasn't wearing protection. Thanks-A.

Get an appointment with your ped. and look into a referral to a urologist. My husband had an injury in that area from martial arts five years ago and it has caused a problem with flow in the area and reoccuring infection flare ups. It is best to get it treated and all aspects looked into...

Sincerely,
MG
