View Full Version : Could it be cancer?

Hi Everyone:
I've been having troubles with my bladder and bowels of late, in addition to back and pelvic pain, so I begged my doctor to do some testing.
First he did a colonoscopy, and that was normal so he said I probably had IBS. The symptoms (and pain) have been getting worse, so last week he ordered an endovaginal ultracound and called me today with the results.
I have two complex ovarian cysts on my right ovary (one is 2.2 cm and the other is 4.0 mm.), and he "suggests" I see a GYN in the next month or so, "just to be safe". I had my left ovary removed in 1976 due to a 10 cm benign cyst, and have given birth to four children since then.
I am 54 years old and finished up with menopause about four years ago. From all I've read a woman past menopause shouldn't have ovarian cysts. How concerned should I be that this is cancer? Right now I'm paralyzed with fear and afraid to take this any further.
Thank you for any information you can shed on this.
Marge

Go back to the doctor and get the test done to find out what your dealing with. My mother in law had an ultrasound done last may and they found a tumor the size of a deflated volleyball. They prepared us for the worse and when they came out of surgery they found out it was benign. If you have cancer you want to find it early!! If you read through the post you will find out that alot of women are afraid and we connect through this site to support each other! Keep in touch.
