Hello Everyone!!!
Hope everyone is doing better today:) !!!I have a question? I am almost 8 weeks post op fusion L5/S1, laminectomy, disk replacement,hardware.....and the list goes on and on:D . I had my own bone taken from the back of my hip and just wanted to know if this could be causing the pain in the my lower back and top of buttocks? I am currently taking the lyrica 75 mg 2Xday.At times I notice the pain will go away when my husband rubs my back or right leg:confused: I am walking a mile a day, with no pain , When I'm walking it goes away a little, but sitting or lying down it hurts .Could it be muscular???? I don't know what to think anymore. someone please give me some advice:( God bless everyone!

I think it's great you can walk a mile with no pain at 8 weeks!!
I didn't use my hip bone but I'm 13 weeks post op (2 level fusion) and still have some pain. But I only need a pain pill about 1-2 times a week now.

Hi Laurie,
What kind of Medication are you taking now? Did you take muscle relaxers? It's great that you only need a pain pill occassionaly I was doing really good and then about 2 weeks ago I started with lower back and leg pain. they put me on lyrica and the leg pain went away no its just the hip pain in the middle of my lower back.
Keep me posted on how your doing!!!

Round 2 you are going to have random pains all over your backs and legs. Unfortunately it goes with the territory and can be very frightening. However, if it becomes to bad contact your doctor so that he can reassure you, change your meds, or even ordered tests if necessary.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Round2,
Round 1 here !!!!
I get darts of pain there every now and again, it never really stays long enough to annoy me. I kind of have different areas at this stage where pain moves around, I am just putting it down to nerve ends ... could be wrong.
delighted to hear you are doing do good. Id say people are confused between round1 and round2 !!!!!

Hi Denise, first I want you to know that I am so happy for you being able to walk with minmal pain, secondly I think the reason why you may have more pain when sitting is because the vertebra, disc, etc are kinda squezzed together, when standing and walking it is upright and not squezzed. I hope you understand what I was trying to say, those darn meds make me forget stuff:D

I take a vicoden maybe 1-2 times a week and flexerol (sp) maybe 1 a week. I really thought at 13 weeks I would have NO pain, I really did. I just started PT and that helps and am walking a mile a day.
The pain comes and goes and has changed so many times since surgery. I also have some burning down my legs but not too bad, mostly happens at night.
I really wanted off the pain rx cause I wanted to drive and get back to my "life", today I went to a White Sox game, didn't stay the whole game but it was great to be back out there.
I'm trying to stay positive and hope every day I feel less pain. But I really think I am just buying time until the next problem. If I'm lucky, maybe that won't be for another 10-20 years.

I think I had the same surgery too. It is strange. I can walk with little pain. I can do most anything. It doesn't hurt as you do things. But after it hits you like a brick. I can't stand more then a few minutes. When I do, my back around my waist starts to throb. It feels like a rock. I also get tailbone, leg pain, pain around the scar etc. The surgeon keeps saying it will take time. I live on Skelaxin, Lyrica and Oxycodone. With all those meds it is amazing I still have pain.

Hessie 28,
I had L4-L5 L5 - S1 fusion with rods and screws and cage insertion 8 weeks ago. Just reading your reply to round2 (we had op the same day !!). I can walk for say 15minutes then this knot appears in my lower back, its like a pressure building up in it. You were saying you cannot stand for very long, how is sitting for you? I have found my sitting to improve abit better, but I am only up about 8 hours in total during the day/night. I managed 3hours and 45 minutes staying up one morning and I was just so sore. Can you stay up during the day or do you need to lie down aswell? You mentioned your meds I know, I am the same you would think that something would hit the pain, I stopped taking my oxycontin last week and to be honest I am no better or worse for it, I am still up the same length of time, and pain wise is the same. I am just taking tylex 4 times aday. I just find no matter what I take it doesnt do much for the pain.
