Hello all,

About 8 months ago, after a big new years eve and new years day party, I noticed a dull ache in my right Kidney area (back only, no ache in side or stomach area) I have been drinking for about 20 years, heavy social drinking, approx 20-25 drinks per week, normally spread out fairly equally over the week. At first I thought it may be a virus of some sort, then thought maybe a muscle, but it has not gone away, it never gets painful and I notice it off and on through out the day. One thing that is concerning is I notice it more if I have a big night out drinking. I have been reading threads and it seems if it were in the liver I would notice the ache more in the stomach or flank/ right side, not in the kidney area. I have no other liver damage signs, nor do I have any real kidney disease or infection symptons. Has anyone ever experienced a sore kidney from drinking too much? it gets better when I stop drinking for a few days, then when I drink more than 3 or 4 drinks in a sitting it starts to ache again. Could it be the liver if the pain is only in the back right kidney area? I am getting worried any help or info would be appreciated, soonest I can get Dr. appointment is 3 weeks from now.. thanks in advance!!
