I had an angiogram six days ago and have developed a lump probably the size of an apricot kernel or bigger. I remember the nurse attending me saying that the lump should be no bigger than a pea size and if it got bigger to go back to the ER or my GP. I am reluctant. It is also slightly to the left of the incision/s. I am also experiencing sharp pain on and off. Can anyone tell me if this is normal. Am considering making an appointment with my GP.

I wish so much that I could help you, but I have had many angiograms, but have never experienced this. I think that I have also had all of the different brands or patents of seals that are used to close the femoral artery, after a cath. Angio-seal for example.

I read the other day where a collagen seal flattened out and stopped blood flow through and onto the leg. You should really be careful and watch for signs of a blockage or a blood clot in this leg. Any pain or discoloration in this leg and you should be off to the ER.

Thanks Huckfinn. Actually went to the GP. He says, yes a bit of a lump there and to watch but ok at this moment. Of course bruising which is now extending down the leg (sort of expected that) especially after the barbaric procedure. My GP said obviously they did not administer the anaesthetic properly. Sorry to hear that your wound didn't heal up probably. Mine cath was pulled out by a nurse. Not a doctor. Then she put the bandage (very thin film like the one stick on to the IV). She is very smart, she used my thigh to press on the incision. I was unable to view the incision for a few days. Anyway, it heals beautifully and no bleeding. Because I told the cardio that I got not enough blood to bleed :D Take care.

mum, the lump is normal...SCARY but normal. Mine took about a month to abate.
I was every ugly color of the rainbow, heavy on the red, purple, greens, browns and yellow from my navel to my knees...every day the color spectrum was a different surprise. My leg looked like an Impressionist masterpiece.:cool:

Thanks guys. Yep, know what you mean about the colours of the rainbow. I think Iv'e had just about enough of being an artist's pallet for now between blood thinners, blood tests, angiograms etc. Think I'm about ready to sign off and get on with life whatever it deals. Now it's time to find a way back home to my girls in my hometown somehhow. I think about all the lovely ladies I met in hospital. Yes, they'd all had heart problems and most were in their late 70's and 80's and they just got on with it, still heartily laughing away at their own selves and life.
