My bil shattered his elbow. He was on a morphine pump tues-sun every 10 minutes. Today he's been to the ER with what seems to be panic attack.

Could he be having withdrawals from the morphine just from that time of use?

Hello Kim

Sorry to read about your brother-in-law. Shattered elbow sounds rough!

I am not sure about your brother-in-law being in withdrwal or not. I can share, though, that I was on a morphine pump for 9 days in the hospital once after an extensive surgery. By the ninth day, I was waking periodically from the morphine stupor in panic attacks. After calling for the nurses a few times when this starting happening, they started giving me something to calm down and weaned me off the pump onto percocet.

Not sure how long morphine stays in the system, but perhaps it is just a reaction to being on morphine more than withdrawal.

Hope all is better by now.
Best wishes
