Friday I am going for an ultrasound after pain in abdomen and blood in stools. The doctor said it sounds most like gastritis, colon related (inflammation) or gall bladder spasms. Is an ultrasound a good reader of most things? Has anyone had any of these illnesses that can shed light on them for me, like symptoms of long term care or length it can last? Thanks so much! God bless!

Well, I have Ulcerative Colitis.. symptoms include blood in stool, and abdominal crampig of sorts. They detected mine in a colonoscopy. They could be doing the ultrasound to rule out gallbladder issues.. I am not sure.

The ultrasound will check for any abnormalities in the torso area - gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, aorta, etc. It can rule out of in a lot of things...and there's no pain, discomfort, etc associated with the test. It's really a very simple test that can give them a lot of good info and is non-invasive.
