Had this now for 4 weeks and I am finding it debilitating as I cannot drive or go out on my own. Dizzy all day and even in bed. Had it 17 months ago for 7 weeks and ENT specialist did all tests MRI, bloods, balance and have had more bloods and ECG (palpitations and irregular heart beats) - everything normal. GP thinks it is labrynthitis and has referred me to ENT spec again. I've also had numbness in right arm, right leg and face but that seems to have gone now. So fed up but am trying to stay positive. Have read that full strength vit C, B complex and ginkgo biloba helps so am taking them also hibistine which I think is helping. Anyone:( with similar symptoms?

sounds just like me! i'm going on 6 weeks now with the dizzy all day every day thing, that's why i don't think mine is meinere's (like my neuroto thought was a possibility). i also experience the heart palps and fast heart rate, but taking xanax has helped with that extremely. i experienced numbness in right side of my face once a few days ago, but it only lasted for like 15 seconds. what did they do for you the first time you had this 17 months ago??? any meds, etc? how did yours go away? did you just wake up normal again? i'm very curious about that. sorry to hear you are having the same trouble again:( it's not any fun at all. what is hibistine? hope you get over it soon!:)

Last time did you recover fully? Also, did you have any inner ear testing done? It is very rare for vestibular neuritis/labrynthitis to come back.

Last time I had this vertigo/dizziness etc it just went. I am hoping the same will happen again. My GP said that once you have had vertigo then you are more prone to it so if you have a cold/flu then it can leave you with vertigo. It is confusing because if this vertigo is caused through by labrynthitis then surely this virus is different to a cold virus as the symtoms are different! I did have inner ear tests and the ENT specialist said that my hearing in my right ear was slightly impaired and also that my right eustachian tube was not shaped as it should be which meant that it easily becomes congested. I do suffer from rhinitis, hayfever and sinusitis so I guess this may make the ear problems worse as the nose and ear is connected by the eustachian tubes. Hibistine is a tablet which comes in 2 strengths 16mg and 8mg, it is used to treat menieres disease/vertigo. It acts by decreasing the pressure in the inner ear. I am on 16mg and it is helping I think but you can not take antihistimines with it.

Have you tried a Neti pot, or something similar, to keep away the sinusitis/rhinitis. Maybe this could decrease the frequency of you getting problems with the ear. I hope this passes quickly for you!

when you say it "just went"....do you mean you woke up and it wasn't bad anymore, or are there things you noticed as it was improving and then was gone??? i'm just very curious to compare my progress with someone else to see if i am really improving or if it will just go away over night kind of?? anyone!?! please help...i feel like i'm slowly getting better, but i want to know more about when it may go away and how to know it's really improving (or am i just getting used to it?)

Its iddf for veryone... I would say for me it just went too.. But this was over time.... But eventually, it gets to a point where you can handle it, and then the rest kinda just fades and you dont even know it.

i think it must be fading for me then. i feel like it's mostly just my vision playing tricks on me and pulsating. i don't really feel dizzy anymore really, just unsteady and kinda foggy i guess. it still seems like when i try to focus on an object it seems to either move (not spin) or pulsate with my blood. so maybe it's trying to go away, or my brain is compensating more. but i definitely see an improvement than even 3 weeks ago, so maybe i will be lucky?! good luck to everyone!:)
