Tonight I was feeding DS (8 months) Gerber Organic Pasta Primavera. As I was reading the label, I noticed the very last ingredient was "organic eggs whites." This confused me since I thought babies couldn't have egg whites until 1 year (yolks are fine at 9 months).
Any thoughts on this? I don't think the organic means anything. I don't think my baby is too young for stage 3 foods. They are just the bigger jars and have bits of food in them.

I was told yolk is fine whenever, ds was eating scrambled eggs with just yolk at 7 1/2 months. At his 9 month dr. appt, she said I could give him egg whites then as long as there wasn't allergies in the family. I know other peds. say egg whites are fine at 9 months too, and stage 3 food usually are given at about that time.

Everything I have read - including What to Expect the First Year, has said that a baby should not have egg whites until 1 year. I have read the same thing on the internet as well. Yolks are ok, but the whites need to wait. I am so confused now. DS doesn't have his 9 month check up for 2 weeks.
I think I may call Gerber!

I was confused about the exact same thing! I just avoid those products that have egg whites in them since Lorelei is only 8 months.
