It seems my TMJ has gotten worse and now my mouth will move on it's own and involuntay twitch. It looks like i'm grinning when it happens. Why is it doing that? is this a common thing with TMJ?

Its fairly common - it has to do with facial nerves and muscles dysfunctioning or being compressed or interferred with. Before my tmj started I noticed the left corner of my mouth pulled slightly downward occasionally and I felt like I was drooling a bit or extra saliva was seeping out of the corner of my mouth. Shortly thereafter I started to get an upper lip twitch just above the left corner near my upper canine. The involuntary movement is acutally a spasm, so if you are not seeing a specialist yet, you should b/c it can progress and become chronic.

Thanks, unfortunately, I'm too broke to see a speacilist right now so, i guess I'm stuck with it but what can a speacilist do for it anyways ? The only thing he'll do is take my money and say there's nothing he can do.

I have spasms occasionally from my TMJ. It is like my lower jaw doesn't know where to "sit". My TMJ doctor said this is normal for TMJ sufferers.
