I'm sure Lipitor works much better but can fish oil really reduce high cholesterol? My doctor told me most fish oil products on the shelf are "GARBAGE". He said it really depends on your genetic makeup. Some people, fish oil works great, others not so well. My diet is very good along with running and working out I'm in pretty good health (6', 200lbs) but I'm having trouble lowering my Cholesterol. I know it's a genetic thing because both parents have or had high cholerstol.
The only fish oil he's heard of working was Carlson fish oil. How does it work compared to Lipitor? Does it have side effects? My doctor wants me on Lipitor 20mg. (Cholesterol was 219) Should I try the fish oil first? Both products are the same price for me. I hear horrer stories of Lipitor side effects. Any advice would be great!
