My gallbladder fraction was at 15%. I go see the surgeon Monday. What should I ask? What other test do I have to take? I hear there is an alternative..what is it? How long will I be off work? I am nervous! This has really got my mind consumed with fear, anixety, and questions! Any feedback will help out a lot!. thanks in advance

Well, if you've had an ultrasound, there are no other gb tests to take. The alternative treatment is a flush but if you have no stones, there's nothing to flush! You gb is obviously damaged as it is not functioning properly. Since it can't sure itself, it needs to come out.
As for how long you'll be off work, everyone is different so we can't say. There ae people on this board who'v had long recovery tmes (by long I mean over a week). I, on the other hand, was off two days, worked 1/2 day and then full time. I'm a committed jogger and I jogged two miles one week after having it out. Others I know have done just as well as I did.
The surgery itself only takes about 20 minutes....I went under at 6:55 Am and could read the clock in recovery at 7:35 AM - so 40 minutes was all I was out. I was home in my bed at 10:00 AM - and that included a stop at the drugstore for pain meds! Just look at this in a positive mode - you're getting rid of something that's causing you pain - and you'll be better shortly.
I was glad to have it gone frankly...the pain, nausea, etc were just getting to be too much. I couldn't jog when I had an attack....hated that!
Good luck!

thanks a lot! im trying not to be so nervous. my ultrasound showed no stones so thats a plus. at first the attacks were at night, waking me up out of my sleep. now they are beginning to happen in the daytime. also, i am now getting this sharp pain behind my navel? not sure what that could be but i am going to mention it to the surgeon. i take aniexty meds now that help out a great deal! at first i thought i my dr thought i was crazy for putting me on them. but as i now see, it helps. i mainly take them when needing to have a bowel movement. feels like i have to go but nothing happens. then when i do go, it is like back to back to back? also going to mention this as well. dont mean to ramble but feels good to get to express. thanks

Try MIRALAX. It's an over the counter laxative that you can take daily. It's cheap and you can get it at Target or Walmart.
How is your diet? Have you done anything that could have affected your hormones in the last 6 months?
There is a hormone called Ghrelin which triggers the emptying of your stomach. For some reason, my stomach was holding food for too long and not digesting it. As such, I would wake up in the middle of the night with 4-5 hour attacks.
I have "sand like" stones on my ultrasound, but I'm sure that isn't what causes my pains. I had sludge 1 1/2 years ago when I had my first "gallstone attack" and I no longer have sludge and I haven't had an attack in 9 months. Gradually I'm able to eat more and more type of food. I had a hamburger and french fries last week for the first time in a year.
Keep your ORGANS as long as you can. See a hollistic doctor if u can to get a different viewpoint. Make sure you are eating healthy and aren't missing anything important:
SODIUM, POTASSIUM, MAGNESIUM, and FIBER are all critical for proper digestion. I was low on all 4 when my problems started.
Bananas, baked beans, and magnesium supplements, and sea salt are all part of my diet now.
That Dannon Activa yogurt seemed to help me too.
I hope that helps.
