I went to the doctor yesterday after noticing what I thought was a bruise or fungus on my big toe. Part of the toenail from the top to about 1/2 way down on the right side had actually separated from the nail bed when I was giving myself a pedicure. She did not recommend lamisil since the problem was mild (at least to her) and said I could try an over the counter med if I wanted but that she hadn't seen much success with those either. Basicially, she said I was stuck with it. I really wanted my copay back.

In any event, I wondered if I could use a bit of nail glue on the crack in the toenail while I treat the fungal infection in order to keep the nail from snagging and breaking off. My doctor actually said to paint it and forget it. She said it would take years for it to get worse or clear up. Not a very definite professional opinion, huh? What do you guys think?
