My son had lasik eye surgery approximately one month ago. Immediately after the surgery he seemed have had a broken blood vessel in one of his eyes. He just went back to his doctor today and he said it was a possible reaction to get a broken blood vessel during the surgery. It's been red for approximately one month now and he said it would take about 2 or 3 more weeks to clear it up. Is this normal? Has anyone ever had this same reaction? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Tessy57

Yes it is common. I had a broken blood vessel in each eye and they take at least 3 weeks to clear up depending on how much bleeding there was....There is no danger or risk to vision. Unfortuantely there is no treatment...you just have to wait.

I just read your answer and thank you, thank you very much. I know it didn't bother my son as he is 23 years old but a bunch of his buddies and co-workers swore that they would never consider lasik surgery if it entailed broken blood vessels. So as the mother of an only child, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Tessy57
