Hello-
I posted on this board quite some time ago. I'm a 34 year old female with FH. I've known about it for the past 10 years or so and have been on medication for most of that time. I'm starting to think about having a baby. I know I must stop taking lipid meds (and will probably do so a couple of months prior to trying to concieve to allow the meds time to get out of my system). I'm just really concerned, though. My levels without medication get extremely high. If I'm off for three months before trying to get pregnant, then it takes another 3 months to get pregnant, nine months until delivery and then the entire time I'm nursing I can't take medications-- I'm looking at a couple of years with no medication.
I've been looking for studies about some natural alternatives I could try that are safe for pregnancy and nursing. Has anyone read any new studies? I'm not having much luck finding much on the internet.
Yes, I know, I can eat a low fat diet and continue exercising..but from past experience, diet doesn't make any difference for my condition of FH. As a matter of fact, when I eat an extremely low fat diet, my levels get worse.
So yeah, I'm kind of freaked out. But, really, will a 2 year period of terrible cholesterol in the overall scheme of things cause me that much damage?

More info about my levels:

Without meds, my total cholesterol was 460, my LDL was 333. I can't remember the other values, my HDL was around 50 I think.

Now, on 20mg Crestor and 10mg of zetia:
Total: 200
LDL: 100
HDL: 82
Tri: 92

I also have a slightly elevated CRP at 3.1. This seems to have always been a problem for me.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Many Thanks,
Austinl73
