Hi. My 18 y/o son just told me he was lying in bed last night and his whole body started shaking. His heart was racing and he thought it might have been a panic attack. He said it lasted about 2 minutes. It started in his legs and feet, then moved quickly thru his entire body. He has had episodes thoughout most of his life where his hands would shake. I never thought a lot about it but as he's getting older, the shaking hand episodes seem to be getting worse. Last night was the first time this shakiness has affected his whole body.

My family has a history of some sort of neurological disorder that affects the hands. My dad's brother has it and his mother had it. I don't know what it is because his family doesn't talk about medical stuff and grandma never went to the doctor.

I'm worried about what's causing this with my son.

Any ideas? I'm going to take him to the doctor so I really need your thoughts.

Thanks.

my arms shake often. It has to do with a nerve problem. Not a 'nerve' such as 'your on my nerves' but the actual nerve. I also have problems with my whole body shaking. My doctor told me that it's a stress related seizure. they don't show up on MRIs or CT scans. If I'm over done my body quickly shuts off and throws me into a full seizure. Sometimes I just pass out, other times I shake, sometimes I'm awake, other times I'm just able to hear what's going on but can't do anything about it.
The neurologist is actually the one that told me about the seizures however he did tell me that it had nothing to do with my arms shaking that has to do with my nerves in my arms.
sorry,
hope it helps
Godspeed,
christi
