I was just wondering whether or not staring at computer screens (7-8 hours/day) will actually make a person's vision worse? Cause personally, ever since I moved my computer into my room, my vision has gotten a lot worse.

From experience I thinks it does make your vision worse. I got glasses a few years back to help and already my eye sight has deteriorated further.
Do you have a Vu-Tek protection screen on your Computer monitor??? That will help a bit. But you definately have to try to take more breaks when on the computer.Don't just sit there and stare at it for a long period of time.

I read awhile back that there's actually no scientific evidence that sitting close to a TV screen, using a computer for long period of time, or anything of that nature actually cause vision to worsen. It can cause eye fatigue though.

However, just because there's no scientific evidence doesn't mean it's not necessarily true.

I'd probably look at genetics first though, if your parents or anyone else in your family had poor vision.

I wouldn't think that using a computer screen could harm eyesight unless the image is blurry. Here, I either use my bifocals to get a good focus, or I bought some of these reading glasses magnifiers that I will "wear over" my regular Rx lenses, I look through the top lenses and I get a perfect trifocal-type view of the screen. This really works well for me! But as has been said, it would be best to take breaks, as you would from reading a book or newspaper. Tired eyes do cause worse vision.
