Hey fellow Okie!!!! I live in Edmond, so we're almost neighbors!! LOL...When I received my approval it was the SSA office who actually called me and told me of the APPROVAL. She went on to explain when I'll receive my checks, and when the approximate backpay, retro will be received, as well as the actual letter of approval. She also sent me a calendar. Congratualtions Belle, what a relief!!...Vergie

Congrats to you !! So nice to hear good news here..... ......When you can pay your bills life doesn't seem so painful since we have so much pain in our lives already it sure does help .... I hope someday I will see the light at the end of my dark tunnel also..CONGRATS AGAIN !!;)

I can actually pay my own bills and mercy--buy real food!!!! Well, when my money comes in!!!I have a call in to the local office now ,my attorney was absolutely useless and she sure doesn't deserve the 5300. Again, thanks to all. Belle

I received the retro,[backpay] within 3-4 weeks???? Then the monthly came immediately after that, the following month or so. It was quite rapid really. I know exactly what you mean...you can breath better now, knowing its all over. God Bless! Vergie

Thanks everyone!! Well, I am so happy that its finally done. The judge said my disability went back to date of onset which was April 2003. The SS said I can't have it back that far, because you can't claim widows benefits till your 50. What I don't understand is the judge knew my age and he put it back there anyways. So the SS took away the 2003 and 2004 till Dec. backpay! Then they decided they had over paid my daughter her benefits--so they took that out of my pay!!!! On her 18th birthday--her check stopped. SOOO, I have no idea how they get they over paid her. Anyways--I ended up with half what I had coming. I told them about the lawyer and they said they have to pay her anyways because I signed a contract with her. I said--yes, I did but I fully expected her to represent me--which she did not. ...ANYWAYS--I got my fully fav letter on Fri July 27--on Wed AUg 1--a lady from SS payment center called me to verify my bank account and tell me the above---she said that since I am a high priority case ( about time--it only took 6.5 mths to get my decision)--my money will be in the bank either Sat afternoon or Monday!!!! Praise God--I won't be evicted or lose my elec!!!! Good luck to everyone and prayers. Belle

Does everyone that gets approved get a certified letter from the post? or a phone call from the SS officer?

I did not get a certified letter nor did my husband. The only time a certified letter came was when SS needed more information to complete the claim. If you are getting a certified letter that might be the case.
Award letters generally come regular mail in a regular SS envelope.

Hi and Thanks. From what I have read on here--a lot of people find out their approved because their money had been put in the bank. Others( like me) get their letter of fully favorable--which, yes, means your approved. Some have gotten calls and some haven't. So, I guess its like everything else with SS--wait and see!!! I wonder who applying for SS disability is NOT depressed!!! But, I have heard a lot of people say they were turned down until they said they were depressed. I wish you lots of luck with your battle and will add you to my prayers. Belle
P.S. I never got a certified letter from SS either. It came in the mail in their usual over sized white envelope.
