Hope,

It is a normal response for one's heart rate to increase after eating, especially a heavy meal. The heart needs to pump more blood to the digestive system to help digest your meal. I have noticed mine going up by 5 -10 beat per min after I eat for an hour or so. My normal resting rate is about 65 and it can go to 75 after eating.

Good luck,
Tony

Happens to me too , mine go's way faster after eating and stays like that for hours and I am on beta blockers too so I know how you feel. I think I have an issue with food moving out of my stomach or upper intestine real slow so that may be also causing my heart to work harder..i am not sure though. But it is normal for it to speed up to help digestion.

Hi! I get this too, and also, which worries me, palpitations :( I get them after eating AND drinking.

Anyone know what this could be?

Thanks :)

EVERYONES heart works harder when they need to digest food as more blood is called for from the stomach/intestines to accomplish this task. I am pretty sure this is fact but I am by no means a doctor. Katie you should go to a cardiologist and have a 24 hour heart monitor ( its real tiny now so you can do anything with it on except shower ) attached to your chest and then do what you normally do for the next day and after you return it they will be able to see all your palpitations and fast heart rates and they can tell from that monitor if you have a heart issue that needs further inspection or if its just harmless palps/pac's that millions of people get each and every day.

i dont think it is normal for anyone to feel there heart beat fast for no reason.i ask tons of people and they cant feel theres .unless exercizing or something.however i have notice people on meds or heart prb say they feel it when after they eat.
