What does everyone use to clean rigid gas-permeable contact lenses? I am using Unique PH and adding Supra Clens at night when I store them but they seem to get cloudy. My ophthalmologist recommended using lighter fluid once a month on them and this helps for a while. Any suggestions?

Hmmm....I'm also using Unique Ph and I tried using Supra Clens, but it burned my eyesthe next day. Now I'm just using the Unique Ph and I found a good eyed drop to use for when my lenses get cloudy. It is called Focus Lens Drops. They are supposed to allow oxygen to flow to the cornea for RGP wearers. They tingle the first time you use them, but the relief is great. BTW, has anyone noticed that it is getting harder and harder to find solution for hard contacts? I used to use Solo Care, but now all they sell is Solo Care Plus which is for soft lenses. The only other thing I can find is Boston solutions and that is just too thick! so Unique Ph was a new find for me and so far it is working well.

Thanks for responding, Megan. Do you rinse your contacts with water or only use Unique PH?
Obviously when I use lighter fluid on my contacts, it is when I take them out at night and I rinse them in water well before storing them for the night. The lighter fluid evaporates quickly. It has not hurt my eyes and again, I only do this once a month.

I only use Unique PH....no water. I find that it works pretty well. Every once in a while I'll use an enzymatic cleaner if I get a bad protein build up though.
The lighter fluid doesn't hurt your eyes or damage the contacts?

Unique pH didn't do it for me. My lenses always felt sticky.
Aosept's Clear Care was recently approved for use with RGP lenses. The boxes still only say soft lenses because they're trying to use up the supply. It really seems to help and I'm not having that "foggy" problem anymore. It's peroxide based, so you HAVE to leave the lenses in it for 6 hours before wearing or they burn like crazy.
My optomotrist has me using MiraFlow to clean my lenses. It's alcohol-based so it gets off all the film. I then rinse with saline and pop in the case for the Clear Care.

I'm using the new Boston Simplus solution. It's the new all-in-one cleaner/conditioner/disinfectant/cushioning/enzyme solution for RGP lenses. I just started wearing RGPs 2 weeks ago.
I really like it. You don't have to do anything when you take the lenses out. Just fill up the case with the Simplus and put the lenses in to soak overnight (I think the minimum is 4 hours). In the morning, you just need to rub them with fresh solution and then pop them back in. That's it. Very easy.

P.S. I'm not affiliated with Boston or Bausch & Lomb (who makes Boston solution & RGP lenses).
