Ive been experiencing floaters for the last 3 weeks and 2 days ago i went to the eye doctor they did te test for detarched retina- i dont reccolect seeing flashing lights or anything, and it came up normal, though she wants to see me again in 3 weeks just incase. She also said there was no way to get rid of them! Soo anyone else dealing with this- do they go away over time, or do you still deal with the annoying peices of black lint in front of your eye.

there are many reasons one has floaters. some are mostly harmless others can be due to inflammation and require medical treatment. usually you just learn to deal with them unless you have vision loss from massive amounts and get a vitrectomy. good luck

No, definitely no cure. I have them too. You must somehow train yourself to think that this is normal, as if every person had floaters. I remember myself how annoying and depressing it's at first but I got used to them... sigh

Another possibility is that the vitreous is detaching from the retina, something extremely common and usually harmless unless it gets stuck to the retina and very occasionally damages it as it comes away, but as you are not getting flashing lights it doesn't sound as if its stuck. One cause of the increase in floaters is the wrinkling and folding of the vitreous.

I have them too. They are annoying, but I tell myself in comparison to being blind - floaters are not so bad. Eye appointments are important to have them checked out. Best wishes.

Hi
Glad to know I am not alone. I have pieces of lens capsule in my right eye floating around. I had the right lens replaced. Then the capsule needed to be lasered off because it was too opaque. So some particles are floating around. In my left eye I have a detached vitreous. This is annoying because some of it is black and is harder to ignore. I have had major laser in both eyes to stop internal bleeding so part of the peripheral vision is gone as well.
Nice to have company. It can all be ignored if you teach yourself how. It is specific to each patient.

Hi Don
Sorry you have had so much trouble with you eyes.
Why is part of your vitreos black? Is it due to bleeding, bits of retina or what? Was your bleeding in relation to the detachment or other cause?
I had only a tiny bit of bleeding (so far, the detachment isn't complete) but it must be scary getting so much you need laser treatment!

Hello Corinna_H
I have diabetic retinopathy. And I had my right eye bleed so much that it would not clear out. So I had the vitrectomy when the operation was still fairly new. After that I was lasered in both eyes to stop the development of fragile blood vessels. After the lasers in the left eye, the vitreous in that eye detached from the rear and the doctors said it was not going to cause any problems. The dark areas are where the blood discolored the attachment area in the rear. Thanks for the concern. I simply try not to think abiout all of the problems.
Don
