View Full Version : Had my ALJ Hearing

I had Spinal Fusion on L4, L5, S1 on March 03. The surgery was a failure, my pain became 4 times more intense after the surgery. I tried to go back to work but had to quite in April 04.
I finally realized I was not going to be able to go back to work so I filed for SSDI in early 2006. I was of course denied twice got a lowyer after the first denial, and we had our ALJ Hearing on July 24th. My lowyer said this Judge makes some strange rullings and has had quite a few of his decisions kicked back to him for reconsideration. But, the lowyer did say he felt pretty optimistic about my hearing. He said I was very consistant with what was in all the evidence.
I am also on quite a bit of Pain Medications such as Duragisic Patch 75 mcg/h, Morphine Sulfate 3mg every 4 hours, Tezanidine 4mg, along with two different Anti Depresents, High Blood Pressure Medicine, Sleeping pills, I am unable to sleep with out waking up quite a bit at night with pain. I am unable to stand or sit for more then 10 min. at a time with out being in so much pain. I am unable to drive long distances because of the pain of sitting and because of the fog from the meds. My legs go numb when I sit on any hard type chairs. I also have another hurnated disc in my lower back above the fusion and a couple hurnations in my cervical neck. I also have Deginerative Disc Disease.
The Judge said I will have his written decision in 30 to 90 days. Hopefully I will get it before a month. I have been waiting this long, but this part of the witing is by far the worse.
Thank you for any comments or insights.

Hi!

I agree with your lawyer in being optimistic, too! The meds you are on, alone...I don't see how anyone could work while taking them, and I know that will be taken into consideration. I really do think you have an excellent chance, but please, that's just my opinion and I'm not the Judge. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Thank you for your reply. Thats kind of what I was thinking, not just the constant pain, but the meds alone keep me in a fog most of the time, which is a drag.
Thanks for your comments. Any other thoughts are welcome.
Thank you,
Emmett
