Hello,

I'm from Holland and a while ago a friend brought me two bottles of visine LR eyedrops from the States. This is a product that is not for sale in Holland and now I understand why.I began to use it because sometimes my eyes where a little red and itchy because I wear contactlenses and do a lot of computerwork. The redness increased after three months of using visine and my eyes were already very red when I got out of bed.The physicians in Holland are not familiar with the side effects of this product and I would like to get some more specific information. I quite using Visine already two months ago and my eyes still are very irritated and bloodshot.I used steroid eyedrops called dexamethason without any preservatives that should decrease allergic reactions called but that didn't help at all I went to a specialist who couldn't find anything and advised me to give it more time to heal It makes me feel so tired and frustrated. What causes this bloodshot and painfull eyes, and more important how can I make this go away ,it's awful!!

Thanks for any information on this subject

What type of specialist have your seen? You really should see an opthomologist who are specialists in eye conditions. My eye surgeon said never use visine or murine like products for long periods of time as they can cause "hardening of the arteries" From what I've heard they cause the arteries to constrict. They are ok for a sometime hang over looking eyes but there are people who become "addicted" to the effect and use them regularly and shouldn't.
