View Full Version : Spots and Lines

Hi, my name is Lenora. I'll try to explain this as best I can but I'm afraid it's kind of hard (and long..). So first, regarding the spots- I see these blue or darkish translucent perfect circles sometimes with a lighter halo around them, covering a large part of my eyes when I make sudden movements with my head or eyes. These are not floaters- they're not as sharp and believe me, I have plenty of floaters to know that this is not what they are.
Secondly, and this will be the hardest to explain, are these weird things I see on lights when I'm not wearing my glasses. When I'm not wearing them, all lights are fuzzy, perfect circles- I expect that this is normal. A while ago, I noticed that if I squinted, this.. black line thing (looking almost like a chain of floaters but differently colored) would appear on the same place on every light spot according to how far down I let my lid go. They would disappear if I blinked. Also, I could get multiple lines if I squinted to varying places without blinking. (still with me :o)?) Recently, I noticed that, again, without my glasses on there was a hole in the middle of every light spot, almost looking like a floater. If I held my eyes open and moved my head, it would make a trail on the light. Blinking would remove it.
I would appreciate any opinion whatsoever on this because I am beginning to worry if it is something more serious (I have been to the optometrist recently and there was no sign of retenal detatchment). I am fairly young (15 if that makes a difference in diagnosis), which to me is especially puzzling. Please let me know if I should clarify anything. Again, I'd appreciate any information at all. Also, I currently had a particularly bad episode of the blue spots and now have a headache. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks so much,
Lenora

Hi Lenora:

Regarding the visual effects without your glasses--do you have astigmatism?

Because the other effects were followed by a headache, I suggest you do some research on migraine with aura. We can't give out web sites here.

Good luck.
