I have had trouble finding contacts that will give me clear vision. I see better than 20/20, but the vision just doesn't seem crisp. I am very healthy, and take Triphasil (birth control) and Allegra 180 for allergies. I just met with a new eye dr. and he gave me Acuvue 2 lenses. They are comfortable, but the vision isn't what I'd like. I do have a slight, .5 astigmatism in my right eye and my previous dr. gave me a toric lens - but the new dr. said I shouldn't be wearing a toric. Could these medications cause these eye problems? Not sure what to do!

Birth control pills can make wearing contacts more difficult according to the literature. I think they tend to make your eyes drier. I haven't had any problem with my contacts & Allegra.
My eye doctor put a pair of soft lenses on me and I couldn't stand the slight blurriness. He said because the lens isn't rigid, it can't provide the same sharpness as my RGP lenses. So I'm sticking with those.

how bad is the blurryness? in general.... have you had glasses before? I'm considering contacts, but have heard about this a bit...

Yes, I wear glasses in the evening and on some days. The blurriness isn't that bad. But it's been 3 days now, and I'm thinking it might be from a poorly fitted contact lens. It feels too loose, and the blurry vision comes after I blink.

I agree with Caps, the RGP lenses are definitely the way to go if you aren't getting crisp vision with regular soft or soft torics. I have astigmatism & take Flonase for my allergies. I had a problem with dry eyes & blurry vision with the soft torics, especially when blinking. The RGPs give me very crisp vision, even when I blink. I don't have problems with dry eyes now that I've switched to the RGPs.
The RGPs take longer to get used to than soft lenses but I think it's worth it to stick it out with the RGPs. It only took me a week to get used to them. They're easy to insert/remove, easy to care for & are less expensive than soft lenses since you can wear them 2+ years before you'll need a new pair (unless your vision changes).
