I've had herpes for years and I'm still trying to figure out which is better to use when having an outbreak. I've read tons....some say creams and oil or ointments others say keep the area dry with cornstarch etc. Any one have any suggestion; I'd appreciate any input

After cleansing the area after using the bathroom, I use undiluted rosemary oil on a small piece of cotton ball to cleanse the area further and it has the added benefit of the pain and itch almost instantly.:D It has a cooling sensation (camphoraceous)that will help you feel better immediately. I have had no side effects, and can use it as often as I need it, sometimes several times a day during the period while open sores are present. Beside the rosemary's pain properties, the rosemary has some natural anti-microbial agents in it that help to keep the sores clean, which speeds the healing process. The brand I use is made by Now foods, Bloomingdale, Il. [removed] A 1fl. oz bottle lasts me for months and costs 5.99 here in Wisconsin. Most health food stores carry Now products, but if they don't carry this particular item they will usually order it for you, in that case order a couple bottles at a time. I hope this helps:) P.S. try it on a small area 1st to see how it feels to you.
