I am considering bifocal contact lenses? Can anyone give me some "insite" on how well they work. Also, which is preferable - gas permeable or soft? Thanks for your input.

I am on my second pair of bifocal gas perm contacts. The first pair I got about a month ago. The second about a week ago. The Dr. said it can take 3 or 4 pairs to get it right. The first were great for close up vision-I never saw things so clear! For distance, it was like not wearing lenses. Everything was a blur. This pair is not quite as good for up close reading, but distance vision is better, but still not great. Things far away that were clear with my regular contacts are somewhat fuzzy and it gets worse as the day goes on. I have an appointment in about 10 days to get these checked. He said wear them for a while and see how they work. I have always worn hard or gas perms. I could swith to soft bifocals if I want. My vision won't be as clear, but they would be more comfortable for long term wear. At this point, I would rather give the gas perms a chance. Good luck with your choice.
