I apologize if this question has been answered....I have been taking L-Lysine for 4 months...and it has been successful in helping my symptoms...but I have gained a lot of weight....does anyone know if weight gain is a side effect of L-Lysine?
Thank you.

Lysine is an amino acid, and some companies add it to appetite suppressant therapies. So I doubt that is responsible. The weight gain may be from altering your diet. I had to increase my cheeses and give up the whole grain bread. I also had to give up my fresh squeezed OJ and substitute fat free milk for breakfast. Ice cream is high in lysine, and beings I gave up popcorn, I have indulged in that more. Not great for the diet.

Cactusqty,
I don't think its the lysine. I think its that Herpes weigh a lot. I to have put on somewhat of a significant amount of weight since acquiring the virus.
Its an interesting little side note to study someday. Not knowing your circumstances Cactusqty, married, single, single with significant other... Me I'm single with no significant other..... I'm sorta thinkin MAYBE its some self preservation mechanism and we wont have to deal with telling some guy that Oh yeah, this would be fun and by the way I have herpes..(if we're a tad bit fatter) (fat being our protective bubble)
All guesstimating here ya know... no actual scientific research on my part.
