So I'm new to HealthBoards, but after reading some things on the Herpes board (and other websites), I'm curious as to myself. I've never had sex before, but I've experienced and performed both oral sex and manual stimulation with 3 different partners. As far as I know, they're clean, however with 2 of them, we never talked about it. I've noticed 2-3 cuts between my vaginal opening and anus. At first, they seem to be pimples, but they're painful and sometimes bleed a tiny bit after using the bathroom. They are also painful when I wash that area in the shower. This bumps/cuts recur quite often and seem to come around my period. Could this be herpes? Thanks in advance!

Never had sex? What do you think fallatio (oral sex) is? If one of your partners had oral herpes (cold sores) it could have been transmitted to you via oral sex, even though he wasn't showing visible symptoms at the time. If you gave him manual stimulation and then touched yourself without washing your hands, you could have transferred it by your hand.

What you have may or may not be herpes. Onlly a test can determine that. You owe it to yourelf and your future sexual partners to have a test done and find out. Stop guessing and wondering and do the responsible thing. And stop being so naive. You can't assume that just because a person seems "clean" (I hate that terminology) they're not carriers. Ask questions.

Ouch... I apologize for seeming naive. Maybe I should apologize because I was raped too? I'm sure you didn't mean that as an attack, I was younger (by about 2-3 years) when it all happened. I have asked my doctor to do a test, and looking at the results right now, it doesn't seem as if she has done the test like I asked for. Seems like I should be going back to see her and get tested, don't you think?

Oh and by saying I've never had sex, I mean that no one has penetrated me using their penis, while I was willing. Being willing I call sex, being unwilling I call rape.

Good Girl!! Stand up for yourself. I believe this is supposed to be a judement free, non-biased board. As for being naive - I think probably most of us here were naive BEFORE being diagnosed. I certainly was. Don't apologize!! Let's try addressing the question...

Yes, it's possible to transfer genital herpes via oral sex. It happened to me. My partner never showed signs, but here I am.

Definitly go see the Doc. I believe the test they talk about on this board is HerpesSelect, but I'm in Canada so can't be sure.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the feedback and support. That means a lot to me. I plan on calling my doctor today and setting up an appointment for this week, considering that I'm having symptoms (like I described above). I'll see what they say and move from there. Thanks again! :)

“While” your having symptoms is a perfect time for a swab of the lesions and have it cultured to determine positive or negative for HSV .

When I read your post I thought the same exact things writercll wrote. Oral stimulation / manual stimulation is SEX. SEX does not equal the act of penetration.

To set the record straight, Curious, I wasn't attacking you, but the fact is, sex is sex, whether it's consensual or not. I've encountered the misconception before, that oral sex isn't really sex (rampant among teenagers) and it's a dangerous fallacy. Had you stated that you had been raped, I would have been gentler perhaps, but that doesn't change the facts.

I am glad to hear you're going to set up an appt with your dr, and I sincerely hope things work out well for you.

By the way, I called the doctor and they said they don't know what it is. So they want me to come in while I'm having symptoms (they've mostly healed since the other day) so I'll be going on Monday, if I'm still having problems. If not, I'll make another appt. for when I am having the problem.
