Has anyone had any success with treating Blepharitis? Am on Maxidex ointment and within 2 or 3 days of stopping it the red, itchy eyes are back. Hate being on maxidex so much. Is there anything else that works? My Dr. says to try hot compresses and plain eye drops but it doesn't help.

Have you tried eyelid scrubs? Or lid massages?

Yes I use eyelid scrubs twice/day and hot compresses. The maxidex clears it up completely but as soon as I stop using it I get it back.

Have you only been on maxodex, with no other treatment?
You do need to do warm compresses. Do those at least twice per day. Some believe you should really do it 4-6 times per day, for at least 5 minutes each. 15 is probably best, but since I have this problem, I know that's difficult. You should also follow that with cleaning your eyelids, either with diluted baby shampoo or some commercial eyelid cleansers. You can do a search for blepharitis on the Internet and you'll find plenty of tips on how to treat blepharitis.
You have glands on both your upper and lower eyelid margins called meibomian glands. They secrete oil that keeps your tears on your eye from evaporating. Sometimes in cases of blepharitis, the oil secretions become too thick and can cause the glands to become clogged (called meibomian gland dysfunction). If you have that problem, then you also need to do lid massages. Ask your ophthalmologist or optometrist how to do this, and if you even need to.
Once the problem is under control and you should be able to decrease the warm compresses to once per day. You'll have to continue treatment for life, however.

I just reread your posts and realized you are already doing the warm compresses and lid scrubs.
Find out about your meibomian glands though. You may need to add lid massages to it, and maybe even doxycycline. I wouldn't stay on the Maxidex too long since it's a steroid.
How long have you been treating blepharitis with lid scrubs and warm compresses?

I've been treating it for 2 years and have been using the lid scrubs for 2 years and the hot compresses for a month now. Have even tried going with no make up for a 6 week period and it didn't help.

Unfortunately, it can take longer than a month of warm compresses and lid scrubs together. I've been doing those for the past five months with no improvement.
Find out if your meibomian glands are clogged. If they are, ask about doxycycline.

I've also been on an antibiotic erythromycin ointment. It doesn't help.

Try blephamide ointment, it is a steroid but very effective.

All the ointments and drops from antibiotic to antihistamine to steroids did nothing except irritate my eyes further. so did lid scrubs. Scrubs have worked in the past but the symptoms were slightly different
