I started using vick's on my big toe nail approx 2 months ago. About 1/3 of the nail (from end of nail to cuticle) was infected with the fungus. Most of the infected nail has been filed down with the exception of the part closest to the cuticle in the botton corner. I can feel that there is nail in the corner but cannot get underneath it to clean the debride and apply the vicks. Should I wait until the nail grows out or should I keep filing down. I do not have any yellow nail in the top portion but it is because I have filed it down. The other portion of the infected toenail looks fine. What should I do at this point? Should I go to a podiatrist or will they recommend the same that I am doing? Thank you for taking time to read the post on this web-site. We appreciate you.

Use a wooden toothpick that you have softened the tip on so you won't poke yourself and force the Vicks into this area. Your body heat will soften the thickness of the Vicks somewhat so it will get in deeper. Be sure to massage some into the surface of the nail as well.
