View Full Version : Family benefits question

When I applied for disability, I was told my kids might not get a check as well because my benefit was so low due to very limited work history. I have had my fully favorable decision for a few weeks now but have only spoken to SSI rep to withdraw that application because hubby's income was too high. I did go online and request a password to access my info online but that will take a few days.

I am wondering how to find out if my kids will each get a check. It would be good if my kids do qualify because I can put it up for college. And the attorney fee, is it limited to $5800 overall or can they get the 25% from each claim (me & kids), even if the total is over $5800?

I went to my Congressman's office today and filled out a form so they can check on when I will get paid. I'm getting really close to my vehicle being repo'd and if I lose it, I can't get to my therapy.

tweiler, Im afraid i can't help you much in this area as i am waiting on a hearing myself, but i know my friends hubby got this and he didn't have very much at all for credits and i am wondering things like this myself as i was told i have only earned enough to get like 200.00 a month and i am seeing an attorney tommorrow because i sent in enough info to get my case expedited wich calls for a soooner hearing and thier sending me info on all this and i am wondering if you appled for both if you get both program amounts or the higher amount? And or if my kids would get this also? How do you get the password, just in case i can't figure it out? My new attorney said it sounded as if i am doing a job with my case, but i don't do well explaining things du to my disability or under pressure so that will be her job.
Love, Monkey

For the password, go to the SSA website and look for "what you can do online". You can request a password that way. My orig app included SSI but when they called me about it to get hubby's income, it was clear he made way too much for me to qualify for it.
