View Full Version : To many manic meds

I'm on Abilify, Seroquel, Lithium, Celexa, and Tegretol. Does anybody think all of these anti-mainic drugs could be contributing to feeling down and depressed? I know the meds are prescribed to keep you at a level between mania and depression. Too much anti-depressants can make you manic and too many anti-manic's can bring you down too far. I get REALLY manic and it gets really hard to control(pretty typical for a BP1 I guess), but I feel really down right now and don't know if it's the meds or situational.

Jen I'm sorry i can't help as I'm newly diagnosed (as you know, lol) and not on any meds yet. What you're describing though is one of my fears, being prescribed this and that, then this other and that other to counteract or balance out this and that, and just ending up with a cocktail. Have you talked to your doc about it, perhaps asked if you could cut back on some of the meds at least on a trail basis to see if you can find a nice even level without all of them?
